The “African American University Students’ Study Tour Program” undertaken by Shandong University has officially started recently.
On the morning of June 8th, 22 teachers and students from Clark Atlanta University and 3 staff members of China-United States Exchange Foundation arrived at Shandong University at Weihai. In the afternoon of the same day, a Sino-US University Students Sodality was successfully held in Wenhua Garden. The sodality was consisted of self-introduction, nunchakus performance, talent show, fun competitions and other interactive programs. Through this sodality, Chinese and American students had a face-to-face communication and deepened their understanding of each other.
On the evening of June 8th, School of Northeast Asia Studies held a welcome reception at the Golden Beach University Hotel. Distinguished guests listed below were present at the reception: Ramona Yuri Felicita Vada Roman and Jasmin Eve Graves, teachers from Clark-Atlanta University; Zhang Han, Lv Qingxian, and Ma Wenxuan, staff members of the China-United States Exchange Foundation; Zhao Yupu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Working Committee of Shandong University at Weihai and Dean of School of Northeast Asia Studies; Zhang Jingquan, Vice Dean of School of Northeast Asia Studies; Zhang Yunling, Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Distinguished first-tier Professor of Shandong University, and President of the Institute of International Studies; and Meng Fanbo, Deputy Director of the International Office. Vice Dean Zhang hosted the welcome reception. Dean Zhao delivered a welcome speech, extended a warm welcome to the teachers, students, and staff members and expressed his hopes that American students will deepen their understanding of China and the Chinese people, and gain knowledge and friendship in Weihai. Ms. Graves and Lv Qingxian addressed the School for its efforts in organizing this tour, with high expectations of the upcoming experience.
On the morning of June 9th, the opening ceremony of the “African-American University Students’ Study Tour Program” was successfully held in the conference room of School of Northeast Asia Studies. After the opening ceremony, the students took a group photo with Vice Dean Zhang, and then began to tour the campus under the guidance of Campus Ambassador. In the coming week, these students will participate in various activities such as academic lectures, culture workshops, and city tours.
