School of Northeast Asia Studies successfully held the “Northeast Asia and the World under Changes Unseen in a Century” Session of the 5th Qilu Youth Forum

On October 16, the Fifth Qilu Youth Forum Sub-session at School of Northeast Asia Studies was held via the Tencent Conference online. Zhao Yupu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Shandong University at Weihai and Dean of School of Northeast Asia Studies, and Zhang Yunling, Chair Professor and President of the Institute of International Studies, attended the forum. The sub-session was hosted by Zhang Jingquan, Deputy Dean of School of Northeast Asia Studies.


Deputy Dean Zhang Jingquan first extended welcome to the participating scholars. He pointed out that the Qilu Youth Forum, as a brand project of the School, has long received strong support from Shandong University, and has served as a bridge reaching out to outstanding young overseas students. During the forum, Phd candidates from Seoul National University and Chung-Ang University gave self-introductions, academic presentation and explanations of their development plans, which deepened the participants’ understanding of young scholars. Then, the young scholars and the participating senior professors conducted in-depth interactions and exchanges. During the exchange, Dean Zhao Yupu further proposed his hope for the Phd candidates to understand the glorious development of Shandong University, and plan an academic path and develop new courses that is suitable for the innovation of the School and the discipline.

In the end, Deputy Dean Zhang Jingquan introduced the School of Northeast Asia Studies and the Institute of International Studies, highlighting their key position in Shandong University, and the important role as a think tank serving national strategies and socio-economic development. The School is in dire need of young talents and hopes to attract many high-level experts and young scholars at home and abroad through the Qilu Youth Forum.
