On August 13, 2020, teachers and students from School of Northeast Asia Studies at Shandong University participated in the 13th Annual Conference of the Academic Community of Political Science and International Relations.
This Annual Conference is the largest and most influential academic annual meeting in the field of social sciences in China. It promotes the development of China’s political science and international relations disciplines. Since the first annual meeting in 2008, it has become the most influential academic feast in the field of political science and international relations. The theme of this year’s Conference is “Competition and Cooperation in the Era of Polarization of the World Pattern”, including 90 roundtable forums, two workshops, 12 displays of academic journals and publications. Due to the pandemic, all activities were held online.
Teachers and students from School of Northeast Asia Studies organized a roundtable discussion on the topic of “Regional Changes and Ocean Governance in Northeast Asia: Issues, Mechanisms and Visions”. Professor Zhang Jingquan, Vice Dean of the School and Vice President of Institute of International Studies served as the reviewer of the discussion. Phd candidate Wu Hao served as the host of the discussion. Phd candidate Dong Yi and Wang Lu, master candidate Meng Xiaoyu and Yao Huanyu, and master candidate Zhang Xianyi from School of International Relations and Public Affairs at Fudan University, attended the meeting and presented their articles. Speakers made wonderful speeches on South Korea’s maritime policy, Arctic issues, Northeast Asia regional governance, global ocean governance, and Northeast Asia maritime cooperation. Professor Zhang Jingquan fully affirmed attending students’ enthusiasm for scientific research and made detailed comments on the content of their presentations. He put forward the focus of future study and encouraged students to strengthen their confidence and strive for greater progress.
The participation in this annual conference organized by Tsinghua University increased our School’s visibility in the academic field and reflected the solid research foundation and distinctiveness of our students. It is an important indicator of a successful graduate training and a steady progress of scientific research.
