On April 3, 2025, the 77th session of the "Northeast Asia Academic Forum" hosted by the School of Northeast Asia Studies was held in Room 1614 of Nanchen Building. Prof.Wang Ning, Dean of the Institute of Arts and Humanities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was invited to deliver an academic lecture titled "The Construction of A Community of Shared Destiny for Science and Technology and Humanities in the Era of Artificial Intelligence". The lecture was moderated by Shi Jian, Director of the Department of Korean Studies.

Wang Ning offered profound insights into the relationship between science, technology, and the humanities within the context of building a community with a shared future for mankind. He emphasized that for scholars in both scientific/technological fields and the humanities, fostering integration and dialogue between these domains is both urgent and imperative. Despite the apparent dichotomy between science/technology and the humanities in nature, he argued that they can fully achieve harmonious coexistence under specific conditions. From the perspective of China's modernization drive, Wang stressed that Chinese scholars bear the responsibility of advancing the synchronous development of technological civilization and spiritual civilization. They should adhere to a new model of coordinated progress between material and spiritual civilizations, striving to construct a community of shared destiny where science, technology, and the humanities thrive in tandem. Turning to higher education, Wang observed that science- and engineering-oriented comprehensive universities inherently possess a "late-mover advantage" in developing liberal arts disciplines. Such institutions can vigorously cultivate interdisciplinary talents with both scientific and humanistic literacy to meet society's pressing demand for versatile professionals. During the interactive session, Wang engaged in in-depth exchanges with participating faculty and students on topics such as the empowerment of AI-driven education and literary critical theories, fostering a dynamic dialogue that bridged academic divides.
