On May 30, the academic seminar themed Gathering Wisdom in Qilu, Winning Through Sci-Tech Innovation:the Construction of a New Model for Regional Sci-Tech Cooperation in Northeast Asia was held at Shandong University, Weihai Campus. Qiu Daobin, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Weihai Campus, attended the event and delivered an address. Liang Fengjun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Northeast Asia Studies, presided over the opening ceremony.

In his address, Qiu Daobin noted that global scientific and technological innovation is evolving at an accelerated pace, bringing both new opportunities and challenges to regional cooperation in Northeast Asia. Always bearing in mind the country’s fundamental interests, Shandong University actively serves the national opening-up strategy, further deepens sci-tech cooperation across Northeast Asia, strives to elevate the quality and efficiency of regional sci-tech collaboration, and contributes to building a regional innovation community featuring mutual benefit and win-win results. He expressed the hope that participating experts and scholars would work together to build consensus on multilateral coordinated development, and jointly explore a new model of sci-tech cooperation that adapts to the development needs of the new era and aligns with the interests of all parties in Northeast Asia.


Liu Changming, Dean of the School of Northeast Asia Studies, stated in his speech that deepening regional sci-tech cooperation in Northeast Asia is not only an inevitable choice to keep pace with the global innovation transformation, but also a key approach to advancing regional economic integration and achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. It carries far-reaching significance for the development of all countries in Northeast Asia and regional stability.
During the keynote forum, a number of academic and enterprise expertsdelivered keynote speeches focused on the core theme of establishing a new model for regional sci-tech cooperation in Northeast Asia. The speakers included Zhang Yunling, Director of the Institute of International Studies at Shandong University; Lei Jiasu, Professor at the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University; Niu Huayong, former Dean of the International Business School, Beijing Foreign Studies University; Li Zhijie, Assistant to the General Manager of Weichai Power Co., Ltd.; Sun Pengjin, Marketing Director of Wego Overseas Group; and Mu Linjie, General Manager of Hongxin Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. of Weihai Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
At the parallel forums, experts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions and extensive exchanges on two major topics: Paradigm Shift: New Pathways for Coordinated Development of Northeast Asian Sci-Tech Cooperation amid Technological Changes and Mechanism Innovation: Collaborative Mechanisms for Sci-Tech Innovation and Joint Talent Cultivation in Northeast Asia. The event further consolidated consensus on regional sci-tech cooperation in Northeast Asia, and offered diverse ideas and solutions for promoting multilateral sci-tech collaboration, improving regional cooperation mechanisms, and fostering a new pattern of regional development based on mutual benefit and win-win progress.
Co-organized by the School of Northeast Asia Studies, the Think Tank Base of China-Japan-ROK Innovation and Cooperation Center, the Northeast AsianResearch Center and the Korean Research Center of Shandong University, the seminar attracted over 80 participants, including experts and scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University and other institutions, enterprise representatives from Weichai Group, Wego Group and other companies, as well as officials from the Bureaus of Science andTechnology of Yantai and Weihai.
