International Politics Major

Overview:

As a newly founded major at School of Northeast Asia Studies, International Politics major is a key program focusing on international politics in Northeast Asia. Students are offered with not only traditional IR courses such as Introduction to Political Science and Introduction to International Politics, but also courses with Northeast Asian characteristics. The faculty members are highly qualified: with distinguished first-tier professor Zhang Yunling, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences as the academic leader. A teaching and research team has been set up, with outstanding qualification and experience, as well as a wide range in field of expertise. The team includes 5 professors and 3 associate professors, 5 doctoral advisors and 8 master advisors.

The goal of this program is to cultivate talents with basic theories and knowledge of Marxism and Northeast Asian related international politics, economics, diplomacy, law, etc. Graduates will be proficient in English and fluent in a Northeast Asian language, capable to work at government offices, private and public enterprises, as well as universities and research institutions. Our graduates will be high-level international political professionals engaged in fields related to foreign affairs, diplomacy, foreign publicity, as well as education and research.

In addition, students receive basic training in scientific research, social survey and statistics. They are equipped with the basic ability to carry out analysis and coordination. Under the Double Excellency Mode, students study not only professional English but also a Northeast Asian language (namely Japanese or Korean), to achieve English proficiency plus Japanese/Korean fluency. This multi-language skill makes our graduates specialized talents for the political and economic development of Northeast Asia.
